Job Description
Supervise the Safety and Security Officer team at assigned Corporate Offices. Patrol all areas of the property; secure offices and assist with office access as required. Conduct emergency response drills, conduct physical hazard/safety inspections, investigations, interviews, and key control audit. View Security Camera Systems and alarm systems as needed. Authorize, monitor, and document access to secured areas. Assist associates/visitors during emergency situations.
Responds to accidents, contacts EMS, or administers first aid/CPR as required. Gather information and complete reports. Maintain confidentiality of reports/documents, release information to authorized individuals. Defuses disturbances in accordance with company policies and procedures. Resolve safety hazard situations. Handle all interruptions and complaints. Escort unauthorized persons from the property. Ensure compliance with alcoholic beverage control laws.
Assist management in training, motivating and coaching employees; serve as a role model and first point of contact of the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy process.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Supervising Safety and Security Operations
- Supervise all safety and security operations to include but not limited to patrol process, emergency response, investigations (e.g., initial - follow up) for all associate/guest related incidents, and electronic key system.
- Develop and maintain a monthly checklist for all security camera systems, alarmed doors, and duress alarms to ensure that they are fully functional to ensure safety and security compliance is achieved at all times.
- Handles complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.
- Supervises and guides the efforts of the Safety Committee.
- Manages first aid program for their location to include inventory of supplies, ordering of needed supplies ensuring that they are replaced prior to expiring.
- Provides information and direction to Safety and Security Officers (SSO’s) by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
- Follow all company policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications; ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
- Welcome and acknowledge all visitors according to company standards; anticipate and address visitors service needs; thank visitors with genuine appreciation.
- Speak with others using clear and professional language; prepare and review written documents accurately and completely; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other associates.
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
- Schedules associates to business demands and tracks associate time and attendance.
- Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance.
- Available to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Performs other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs.
Surveillance/Patrol
- Patrols all areas of the property by foot or vehicle using specified equipment (e.g., flashlight, high visibility jacket) to ensure Associate/Visitors/Contractors and meeting rooms are secure and assist Associate/Visitors/Contractors with room access.
- Incorporate the process of an inspection of tour of recording system (If applicable) into patrols, which encompass all areas of the property's interior and exterior,
- View Security Camera Systems, when possible, monitor perimeter alarm system, duress alarms, and fire life safety system to ensure that any unusual behavior or emergency is dispatched to appropriate personnel for investigation and recorded.
- Monitor/Follow up on all unusual activities in and around the property that would impair the wellbeing of associates and visitors.
- Develops detailed shut down procedures for the property to ensure that all areas are secured at the appropriate times.
- Conducts daily physical hazard inspections and reports any unsafe conditions or work practices.
Incident/Emergency Response
- Supervise all safety and security operations to include but not limited to patrol process, emergency response, investigations (e.g., initial - follow up) for all associate/guest related incidents, and electronic key system.
- Responds to the scene of Associate/Visitors/Contractors accidents and determine if emergency aid is required.
- Administers first aid/CPR to Associate/Visitors/Contractors as required.
- Assists Associate/Visitors/Contractors during emergency situations, such as fire, evacuation, flood, severe weather, bomb threat, robbery, natural disasters, etc.
- Notifies manager, local police, or other appropriate individuals in the event of accidents, attacks, or other incidents.
- Communicates specified information regarding Associate/Visitors/Contractors accidents to EMS/medical personnel as required.
- Defuses Associate / Visitors / Contractors disturbances/altercations in accordance with the company policies and procedures, including summoning appropriate authorities if necessary, and documenting incident.
- Completes incident reports to document all Safety and Security related incidents such as theft, accidents, physical hazards, and fire alarms.
- Handles business interruptions and complaints, such as suspicious individuals, civil disturbances or demonstrations, noise complaints, intoxicated individuals, etc.
- Resolves safety hazard situations.
- Escorts any unwelcome persons (e.g., trespassers, loiterers) from the property without interrupting the orderly flow of property operation.
- Reports to scenes of vehicle accidents/thefts and document all required information.
Investigations / Reports
- Review all SSO reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Completes a Safety and Security shift summary/daily activity report to ensure that all information is properly logged.
- Maintains confidentiality of all Safety and Security and property reports/documents and releases information only to authorized individuals.
- Conducts investigations and gathers evidence related to theft/fraud or lost items, noise complaints, assault complaints, food poisoning complaints, and other Associate/Visitors/Contractors complaints and incidents.
- Conducts interviews with relevant parties to obtain statements and information related to incidents.
Safety and Security
- Follows company and department safety and security policies and procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and secure environment.
- Uses proper equipment, wears appropriate personal protective clothing (PPE), and employs correct lifting procedures, as necessary, to avoid injury.
- Maintains awareness of suspicious persons on property premises.
- Reports work related accidents, or other injuries immediately upon occurrence to manager/supervisor.
Policies and Procedures
- Protects the privacy and security of Visitor/Contractors and coworkers.
- Ensures uniform, nametags, and personal appearance are clean, hygienic, professional and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of proprietary materials and information.
- Follows company and department policies and procedures.
- Protects company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Conduct interviews with relevant parties to obtain statements and information related to incidents.
- Performs other reasonable job duties as requested.
Associate/Visitors/Contractors Relations
- Addresses Associate/Visitors/Contractors' service needs in a professional, positive, and timely manner.
- Aids individuals with disabilities, including assisting visually, hearing, or physically impaired individuals within guidelines (e.g., escorting them when requested, using words to explain actions, writing directions on paper, moving objects out of the way, or offering access to Braille or TDD phones).
- Actively listens and responds positively to Associate/Visitors/Contractors questions, concerns, and requests using brand or property specific process (e.g., LEARN, PLEASED, etc.) to resolve issues and build trust.
- Welcomes and acknowledges each Associate/Visitors/Contractors with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting, using their name when possible.
- Thanks Associate/Visitors/Contractors with genuine appreciation and provides a fond farewell.
Communication
- Prepares and reviews written documents (e.g., daily logs, business letters, memoranda, reports), including proofreading and editing written information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Speaks to Associate/Visitors/Contractors and co-workers using clear, appropriate and professional language.
- Exchanges information with other associates using electronic devices (e.g., cell/mobile phones, two-way radios, and email).

- Conducts a departmental orientation program for associates to receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.

Candidate Profile
Education:
- High school diploma / G.E.D. equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of Safety and Security Officer experience is required. Supervisory experience is an advantage.
Technical Certifications and Licenses
- First Aid Certification
- CPR Certification
- Driver’s License - if applicable
- State Certification - if applicable
