Job Summary

Based at the Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) Corporate Office in Orlando, FL, the Assistant Vice President (AVP), Strategic Global Network is responsible for shaping and executing the Global Technology strategy for the Global Network. This role is responsible for shaping the strategic vision, design, development, and delivery of data communications across all brands, at resorts, corporate locations, and contact centers. The focus is on advancing networking technology initiatives that align with business goals, optimizing Global Technology processes, and effectively managing resources in the Strategic Global Network team.

This role highlights the necessity of collaboration between other Global Technology functions, as well as various business units within a hospitality organization, to ensure that technology strategies align with overall business objectives. By establishing strategic partnerships, this position is an internal business partner, going beyond traditional technical support to actively engage with other departments, fostering innovation, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing customer experiences.

Expected Contributions

  • Designs and implements scalable, secure, and integrated networks.  
  • Provides project support for new technology deployments and upgrades. May lead project teams.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding technology and asset life cycles and deployment prioritizations.
  • Ensures that Strategic Global Network technology for resorts, contact centers, sales centers and corporate locations are supported within established guidelines to support growth and operational excellence.
  • Leads and manages Strategic Global Network team on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support. 
  • Creates and ensures implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans related to Strategic Global Network technology support.
  • Ensures locations are securing and maintaining Strategic Global Network technology assets by MVW policies and standards.
  • Creates and implements a global network strategy that supports corporate objectives, emphasizing scalability, resilience, and innovation.
  • Demonstrates a strong foundation in enterprise networking technologies and leverages this knowledge to effectively foster the development of Global Technology associates.
  • Promotes the use of digital tools, automation, and AI to enhance operational efficiency and guest experience across the network.
  • Provides leadership, mentoring, direction, and guidance to the Strategic Global Network team.
  • Provides guidance and direction to the management team regarding escalated issues and actions for their resolution.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related discipline or equivalent work experience

Certifications

  • Relevant certifications in Networking, IT management, project management, or relevant technologies. 

Experience

  • At least 10 years’ progressive experience leading and managing Network technology teams.  
  • Comprehensive expertise in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and integrated networks.  
  • Successful track record managing cross-functional, technology teams to achieve business outcomes. 
  • Ability to learn business operations and develop business acumen.  
  • Experience with financial analysis and related reporting tools. 
  • Budget management experience with a proven track record of financial accountability.
  • Experience driving organizational change and leading technology transformations via stakeholder engagement and vendor management. 
  • Experience gathering requirements and translating into a group product vision, leveraging expertise in product development, systems integrations, and engineering. 
  • Ability to apply advanced analytical, conceptual strategic planning, and execution skills to solve complex technical challenges, optimizing performance, and ensuring scalability.  
  • Experience managing a product backlog and release plans, tracking team level metrics, and removing blockers. 
  • Experience with emerging technologies such as SDWAN, IoT, AI, and cloud computing.
