Position Summary

The Group Sales Manager is responsible for executing all Group sales opportunities for The Marriott Vacation Clubs, which includes Marriott Vacation Club, Sheraton Vacation Club, and Westin Vacation Club, as well as Marriott Grand Residence Club, Lake Tahoe. This role involves managing the entire sales process from lead response to contract execution for accommodations and ancillary services. Key responsibilities include effective negotiation, communication, and collaboration with business partners to ensure proper service delivery. The focus is on maximizing Group Sales opportunities and revenue, building long-term customer relationships, encouraging repeat business, and contributing to the overall success of rental sales. Additionally, the Group Sales Manager ensures a smooth transition to the sales coordinator team, ensuring customer expectations are communicated and met by on-site resort teams for a seamless customer experience.

Expected Contributions

  • Demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of The Marriott Vacation Clubs Brand regions, markets, and competitors to effectively strategize sales approaches.
  • Keeps current with all resort-specific information, including villa configurations, refurbishments, meeting space layouts, resort experiences, and food and beverage offerings, ensuring a comprehensive knowledge base.
  • Proactively manages all lead sources by targeting qualified customers by resort and market segments.
  • Adapts sales strategies according to the unique sales strategies of each resort, negotiating contracts accordingly.
  • Manages group sales inventory to optimize occupancy and revenue, aligning supply and group client demand effectively.
  • Possesses a working knowledge of contractual agreements and legal implications, ensuring compliance with company policies and ensures timely completion of the contract.
  • Facilitates the smooth transfer of contracted business to sales coordinators to ensure proper service and coordination of the group.
  • Partners with internal business teams to ensure the successful execution of each group's event and accommodation needs.
  • Cultivates and manages relationships with both internal and external customers to foster long-term partnerships, employing exceptional communication and listening skills.
  • Utilizes all available Marriott International group lead and sales systems proficiently to promote and sell resorts.
  • Maintains expertise in Marriott International servicing resources and utilizes relevant information for efficient sales processes.

Candidate Profile

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, hospitality management, or marketing preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a customer success role in Hospitality.
  • Revenue Management, Event Planning, Group Sales, or related experience preferred.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong understanding and relationships with key travel trade contacts to drive sales.
  • Analyzes market trends, sales data, and customer feedback to improve strategies.
  • Strong negotiation skills for securing favorable terms and closing deals.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Flexible to adapt to changing market conditions and customer preferences.
  • Keen attention to detail for accuracy in contracts, communications, and sales processes.
